Dr. Aimee Castro was born and raised in Montreal. She is fluent in English and French. Her love for Pediatrics stemmed from growing up in a big family surrounded by children, and from caring for close relatives with special needs, including her mother.
Dr. Castro earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from McGill University (2010). She then completed a residency program at the BC Children’s Hospital (2011), which ignited her passion for caring for medically compromised and special needs children. She subsequently completed a three year Pediatric Dentistry specialty program at the University of Toronto while obtaining her Master of Science and Diploma in Pediatric Dentistry (2014). Prior to moving to Ottawa, Dr. Castro worked in Calgary as an Associate in a private clinic and as a part-time Staff dentist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Castro values lifelong learning and is committed to the dental profession. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a member of the American and Canadian Academies of Pediatric Dentistry, as well as the Ontario and Canadian Dental Associations. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and was the past President of the Alberta Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of the office, Dr. Castro enjoys yoga, pilates, reading, traveling, and anything related to food! She especially loves spending time with her family, including her son, daughter, and husband.
“Children are my passion. Working with children and raising my own uplifts me. My goal is to develop a long-lasting relationship of trust with children and families. I value quality dentistry and the important impact of good oral health on overall health. I think every interaction with children plays a key role in shaping their future, and I am privileged to be able to have these interactions.”
